Coaching and Screening Process
Ten times a year (with the exception of August and December), we iterate a four-step coaching and screening process. In the first two weeks of the month, we review applications from 20-25 companies who apply online. In a typical interview cycle, the Alliance of Angels program staff schedules an average of 19 90-minute meetings with applicants. In this first meeting, we will listen to your angel investor pitch (the goal is a ten-minute presentation), spend some time in Q&A drilling down on the drivers of your business, and then finish the meeting with feedback and slide-specific recommendations on your business plan and pitch. The second Friday of each month, we make the very challenging decision of selecting only 6-7 companies to move forward to step 3: the Screening Board review. This committee convenes the afternoon of the third Tuesday of each month, and over a 10-minute (timed) pitch and 5-minutes of Q&A, ultimately selects 3-4 companies to present to our membership at the luncheon. These luncheons are held at the Seattle Tennis Club, generally the fourth Wednesday of each month.
Every step of the way, our program staff will communicate specific feedback and actionable milestones to every applicant company. We thank you for considering the Alliance of Angels and please call or email Program Director Rebecca Lovell with any questions.
